(Oakland) One year after making the deepest postseason run in program history, Riverside will have a new volleyball coach.
Michaela Schwartzkopf has resigned and Brooke (Goss) Flathers has been hired to lead the Lady Dawgs. Flathers turned in a solid prep career at Treynor and has been preparing for a career in coaching. “My senior year I coached a 6th Grade AAU team. I moved up to Iowa State where I coached at Nevada. I coached their club team a couple of years and have been coaching club since I’ve been back in Southwest Iowa. Last year was my first year as an assistant at Riverside.”
She says she is thrilled for the opportunity to lead a talented group. “The expectation is going to be state. Last year we had a really exciting season. The girls made the regional final which had never been done at Riverside. They made history setting several school records throughout the year. We are expecting state and they know I have high expectations for practice and games and everything in between. It will be fun.”
Riverside finished the 2019 season with a 26-13 record.
