Madison Schumacher, Kate Heithoff, Jordan Heese, and Emily Brouse had two singles apiece for the 8-1 Cyclones. Freshman DH Abbie Schechinger drove in two runs. It was Harlan’s 5th shutout of the year. Emily Brouse and Tianna Kasperbauer combined on a 1-hitter. Kasperbauer gave up one hit, no walks, and struck out five in four innings. Brouse walked two and fanned five in her three innings of work. A big matchup with fellow league unbeaten Shenandoah looms on Friday.
Nodaway Valley 10, Orient-Macksburg 9
O-M scored five runs over the final two innings to snug things up. Nodaway Valley got a 3/3 night with three steals and two RBI from Maddax DeVault. Alyssa Davis, Whitney Lamb, and McKynli Newbury had two hits each. Aubrey Van Otterloo and McKynli Newbury each doubled. Lamb got the win in the circle.
CAM 11, Glidden-Ralston 9
Grace Kauffman’s RBI double was the big hit in CAM’s six run 3rd inning. Kauffman also had a single in the 4th. Marissa Spieker had a single, two walks, and scored three runs. Maddy Holtz, Allison Spieker, and Maddy McKee all had one hit.
Exira-EHK 8, Ar-We-Va 0
Macy Emgarten delivered her fourth shutout in the last five games. Exira-EHK improves to 8-0. On Wednesday the sophomore fanned 15 batters to run her season strikeout total to 64. She’s second in the state in Class 1A in that category. Emgarten gave up four hits and one walk in the win against Ar-We-Va. Shay Burmeister stole four bases. Kami Waymire and Quinn Grubbs each had three singles. Alisa Partridge, Mollie Rasmussen, and Makenzie Riley had two hit games.
Riverside 11, Tri-Center 1
The Lady Dawgs are ahead of the pack at 5-0 in the Western Iowa Conference. Underwood is 4-1 in the league and Riverside already holds a head-to-head advantage over the Eagles. In Wednesday’s win, Gracie Bluml went 3/5 with three RBI. Kenna Ford was 3/4.
