(Oakland) On KSOM Monday night Riverside will host Audubon in softball. Pregame coverage starts at around 7:15 p.m.
Riverside coach Chris Conover says the team has been anxious to get things started. “They are getting kind of tired of doing drills and scrimmaging each other so they are looking forward to some live competition.
The Lady Dawgs bring back almost everyone from the last couple of seasons which has led to high expectations. “The main expectations is to take things one game at a time. I know we have goals of trying to make a run at state, but we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves.”
Riverside swept Audubon last year, but both games were far from easy. “The Wheelers have been progressing and have some solid young pitching coming up. Coach Eric Borkowski does a good job pushing runs and they are always a god bunting team. Last year there were a couple of close games that we pulled out wins on and I’m expecting this one to be the same way.”
Riverside brings back a wealth of capable hitters. Assistant coach Taylor Frain has taken on a larger role leading the offense. Kenna Ford returns in the pitcher’s circle and Conover says Ford is throwing as well as he’s ever seen her throw.
