(Omaha) Year two as a distance runner at Omaha is on the horizon for former Griswold cross country and track standout Joanna Topham.
Last season was Topham’s first at Omaha. She’s looking to drop her times heading into the upcoming year. “I for sure want to improve my times with cross country and then also with indoor and outdoor track, setting new personal records with my races.”
In cross country she wants to break into the 19 minute range in the 5K. It’ll be her second season in cross country for the Mavs, but first in both indoor and outdoor track and field after redshirting. “Cross Country season went very good. During the middle to end of the season I was feeling very tired and fatigued. That made a difference with my training and after talking to my coach we both agreed it was best to redshirt.”
Prior to Omaha, Topham was an All-American at Hawkeye Community College.
