(Des Moines) A flash flood watch remains in effect for five counties in southwest Iowa, and Guthrie County in west-central Iowa until 1:00 p.m. today.
The southwest Iowa counties included in the watch area are Adair, Adams, Cass, and Taylor.
One-half inch to 1.5 inches of rainfall is forecast in a narrow corridor from southwest Iowa through central Iowa into northeast Iowa this morning. Isolated higher amounts over three inches may occur, according to the National Weather Service.
Heavy rainfall may result in flooding of low lying or weak drainage areas as well as flash flooding on smaller creeks and streams.
