(Underwood) A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Pottawattamie County sent six people, including five children, to the hospital on Sunday.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 4:53 p.m. on Sunday in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near the 19-mile marker.
According to the accident report, an eastbound 2007 GMC driven by 35-year old Carlos Valensia, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, lost control of the vehicle and entered the median. The GMC spun sideways, rolled and came to rest upright.
The Iowa State Patrol identified the injured persons as; 29-year old Lourdes Santamaria and five children ages 10, 6, 5, and two 4-year olds.
Authorities shut down the westbound and eastbound lanes of I-80 until the accident scene was cleared.
