Roger Raymond Metzger, 63, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 16th, at his home after battling cancer.
Roger was born July 17, 1956, in Greenfield, Iowa to Ray Ivan and Rose Marie (Burg) Metzger. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Bridgewater-Fontanelle High School in 1974. He had been a resident of Bridgewater and Adair.
On September 4, 1976 he married Kathy Dill in Adair, Iowa. To this union a daughter, Emily Renae was born.
Roger worked for Schildberg’s and then the State of Iowa on the bridge crew and then with the Motor Vehicle Enforcement division and retired in 2014 after 35 years of service. He then worked for Jason Roberts until his death.
He enjoyed camping, golfing, and watching his grandson, Nolan, in his school activities. He was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church. He was proud member of Adair Fire & Rescue for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard; his mother-in-law, Betty Dill; and his brother-in-law, Jim Snyder.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy; his daughter, Emily (Mason) Ross of Winfield, IA; his grandson, Nolan Ross of Winfield, IA; his granddog, Bogey; his father-in-law, LeRoy “Bud” Dill of Adair; sister-in-law, Connie Snyder of Adair; special friends, Brad and Susan Newton of Fontanelle, IA; and by many other relatives and friends.
There will be no services other than a small family gathering.
