(Des Moines, AP) Public health officials are reporting two cases in Iowa of a new inflammatory disease in children associated with coronavirus infections.
State Epidemiologist Dr. Caitlin Pedati said Monday they are following this closely in order to learn more about this disease.
The state learned of two potential cases on Friday in children in eastern Iowa. Pedati says the two children are stable and state officials are working with local officials to learn more. The symptoms include a persistent fever, ”variable rash“, conjunctivitis, swelling, pain and ”significant gastrointestinal symptoms“ (such as diarrhea and vomiting). Parents should look out for a fever or high temperature, rashes, red eyes and lips and redness on the palms and soles of the feet.
