(Harlan) Harlan alum Will Lansman is approaching his final fall on the gridiron. The outside linebacker will be a senior this year for the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Lansman reflects on his career to this point. “It’s been a great time. The funnest part about it has been when I came in as a freshman the year before they didn’t win a game and my freshman year we won one game. Last year we made a Division II Bowl Game and had a winning record. That’s just been the funnest part about it.”
A new coaching staff and better recruiting classes are largely to thank for the Lopers improvement throughout Lansman’s stint with the team. “Our coaches brought in a different scheme offensively and defensively. We started doing things a lot of teams aren’t using in the conference. It’s been fun to see everyone settle in and start performing really well in the new system. It’s been resulting in wins which has been a lot of fun.”
He says it’s been a lot of fun to see all the different stages of improvement. His role has shifted from playing safety to linebacker. He’s looking for a bigger role in his final season. “It’s going to be crazy to realize this is my last summer and fall where I will be training to compete. I’m just going to try and enjoy the last year, hopefully not put too much pressure and expectations on it, but just go out and have fun and do the best that we can as a team and individual and see where that ends up and just enjoy the gift that it has been.”
