(Walnut) Gene Larsen, Mayor of the City of Walnut and Commander of the AMVETS, said they have made the tough decision to cancel the annual Walnut Antique Show scheduled for Father’s Day weekend in June.
“We’re really saddened that this has to happen, but the safety of the folks comes first and with not knowing what could happen we just had to err on the side of caution,” said Gene Larsen.
Larsen said they have 350 dealers from 20 different states that participate in the Antique Show and a lot of folks from several states come just to shop.
“The Walnut Antique Show has become one of the country’s most renowned shows, it’s hard to believe that a little town like Walnut would be so popular, but thousands and thousands of people come from all over the place and we are on the map,” said Larsen. “350 dealers and probably 250 of them had already had contracts in with us and so we will have to deal with those folks and either offer them some kind of refund or hold their space over to next year.”
Larsen said in a few months they will start to gear up for the 2021 show and he hopes it will be another big event.
