(Atlantic) The Atlantic Fire Department responded to a brush fire east of Atlantic and a report of smoke in a motel room at Americas Best Value Inn & Suites on Saturday evening.
Firefighters responded to a call of smoke in room 305 at Americas Best Value Inn & Suites at 1902 East 7th Street in Atlantic at around 9:58 p.m. Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel said overcooked food in the microwave filled the room and west side of the structure with smoke. Cappel says the damage was contained to the microwave and the top of the refrigerator when firefighters arrived at the scene.
The first call involved a brush fire that spread into a building near the landfill east of Atlantic.
There were no injuries.
