(Sidney) Two men from Pottawattamie County face drug and other charges in Fremont County after a Deputy observed the pair traveling approximately 124 miles per hour on Interstate 29.
Deputies stopped a 1998 Honda Accord near the 14-mile marker. The Driver identified as 20-year old Eric Pond of Council Bluffs faces charges of speeding at 124 miles per hour in a 70-mile per hour zone, reckless driving, 5th-degree theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
During the stop, Officer’s noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Authorities searched the car and found approximately 67 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia consistent with the distribution of controlled substances.
In addition to that, deputies found stolen property from Omaha inside the trunk of the car.
Deputies arrested a passenger, 19-year old Cortez Grennell, of Council Bluffs, for conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
The Iowa State Patrol assisted the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
