(Des Moines) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced today 521 new positive cases of COVID-19, for a total of 4,445 positive cases.
There are 2,190 new negative cases for a total of 29,783.
A total of 31,973 Iowans have been tested; on a per capita basis that means 1 in 98 Iowans have been tested.
The increase in positive cases today is related to testing that is occurring among essential workers. 30-percent of Iowa’s positive cases are related to manufacturing and 15-percent is related to health care workers.
1,604 Iowans that were diagnosed with COVID-19 have recovered, for a recovery rate of 36-percent.
11 additional deaths have been reported, for a total of 107.
According to IDPH the additional 11 deaths were reported in the following counties:
- Bremer County, 1 elderly adults (81+)
- Black Hawk County, 1 middle-age adult (41-60 years), 2 older adults (61-80 years)
- Linn County, 2 older adults (61-80 years), 2 elderly adults (81+)
- Polk County, 2 elderly adults (81+)
- Scott County, 1 older adult (61-80 years)
Across all of the RMCC regions yesterday, there were 278 patients hospitalized, 44 were admitted in the last 24 hours, 104 patients are being treated in ICUs, and 60 patients are on ventilators.
In hospitals across the state, there are 3,896 inpatient beds, 534 ICU beds, and 682 ventilators available for patient care.
The Department of Public Health has also confirmed one additional long term care facility outbreak at Mitchell Village Care Center in Polk County for a total of 13 long term care facility outbreaks.
