(Stuart) West Central Valley senior Louden Foster has committed to run at Simpson. An impressive high school career that included a 5th place finish at the 2018 state cross country meet opened the door for Foster to get some recruiting attention.
One of the best things the Storm had to offer was their coaching staff. “It really fits my style of running well and it’s also a small school. I didn’t want to have a huge jump of going to a big school with a bunch of people I didn’t know.” Foster had to sort through some recruiting interest from some other possible suitors such as Wartburg and some junior colleges, but wanted to stay fairly close to home.
He refers to his junior season at the state meet as being his best race of his high school career. “Coming from my freshman year when I just ran because I got talked into it by my dad and my times weren’t that great, I was running about a 20:00 5K and then kind of fell in love with the sport. My junior year at state cross country was probably my best race ever. I was ranked 21st in the state and got 5th and that was what put me on the map for colleges and I think that was probably my best moment throughout high school.”
Foster lists the individuality of the sport as his favorite aspect of distance running. He’s already got his sights on a couple of Simpson records and says he wants to give steeple chase a try.
