(Greenfield) Adair County Auditor Mandy Berg and the election staff continue to brainstorm for a method to allow early voting at the courthouse.
Berg says by law the county must have an option in place for people to vote in person. Curbside voting is under consideration, as well as the use of a window near the elevator at the west entrance to the courthouse.
“We want to take precautions and we realize there might be some waiting involved,” said Berg. “We’re going to take it day by day and do our best to come up with a plan.”
Berg says the easiest way to solve the issue is to encourage people to vote by mail. The secretary of state’s office is mailing out absentee ballot request forms to every Iowa voter beginning on April 23. The requests need to be filled out and returned to their local county auditor. Once received, the county auditor can start mailing out absentee ballots beginning on April 23.
