(Adair) ACGC alum Clay Billheimer had a mixed bag of results out of his first season as a distance runner at Simpson.
The former Charger didn’t see much action in cross country due to an injury, transitioned into a strong indoor track season, and then didn’t get a chance to compete in the outdoor season because it was cancelled. “During cross country I dealt with tendinitis in my right foot. I took a lot of cross country season off and cross trained. That really helped.”
The time off led to a 2:01 split in the 4X800 at the indoor conference meet. Billheimer feels he is capable of dropping quite a bit of time off of what he ran this year. “The main goal this year if COVID didn’t take out the season I was hoping to get a 1:58 in outdoor, but next year I want to shoot for 1:57.”
In one season on campus he’s meshed well with his teammates. “I like how everyone on the team is great to run with. We just push each other and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to join.”
