(Johnston) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds at Tuesday’s daily briefing announced 189 new positive cases of COVID-19 bringing the total to 1,899 positive cases and no new counties for total of 82 counties. The Governor reported 481 negative tests bringing the total to 17,467 negative tests. The State Hygienic Lab has 3,415 tests available, and as of Monday evening, there were 163 patients hospitalized, 790 recovered, and six additional deaths for a total of 49 deaths in the state.
Governor Reynolds says today’s count is the highest to date due to an outbreak at a Tyson food processing plant among its employees in Louisa County.
The Iowa Department of Public Health also confirmed three additional outbreaks in long term care facilities in Bremer County, and two long term care facilities in Polk County.
