(Greenfield) The Adair County Board of Supervisors received three short letters complaining about wind turbine noise. At Wednesday’s electronic meeting, the board acknowledged two messages sent recently to the Supervisors.
Supervisor Chairperson John Twombly recited one of the letters to the other board members attending from separate locations electronically.
Twombly said he hasn’t come across anything in the Iowa Code stating the county is legally responsible for policing anything on someone else’s land.
Twombly feels the complaints should be directed to Mid-American Energy, not the county supervisors.
In other activity, the supervisor’s approved the Homestead/Military disallowances, and agreed to place the Adair County Fair Board T.I.F. project addition into the urban renewal file. The supervisors did not approve the project at this time.
The supervisors also moved to direct Chairperson Twombly to sign a document from Northland Insurance accepting $133,322.97 from the insurance company to pay for the damage to a county bridge. In other action, the board agreed to develop a county-wide social media policy. It’s County Engineer Nick Kauffman’s desire to post future department updates on social media. The policy would cover all departments utilizing social media as an information tool.
