The female was at Westlake Hardware (721 West Broadway in Council Bluffs) on March 28 and March 29 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Westlake Hardware had already installed sneeze guards at the check-outs to mitigate COVID-19 exposure. Public Health expresses sincere appreciation to Westlake Hardware management for taking proactive mitigation steps and for promptly notifying employees of the positive case. Public Health is asking that shoppers who visited Westlake Hardware on March 28 or 29 self-monitor and report any symptoms or changes to the Pottawattamie County COVID-19 hotline. The hotline can be reached Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 712-890-5368 or 712-890-5369.
Pottawattamie County Public Health is considering this case very low-risk to the public.
Pottawattamie County’s first two presumptive positive COVID-19 cases have completed their monitoring period with Public Health. The County’s third case, a woman between 61-80, is currently self-isolating at home.
This is a rapidly evolving situation and Public Health recommends people stay home as often as possible, increase social distancing efforts, and practice excellent hygiene and disinfectant practices. The goal is to prevent a huge spike in the number of people getting sick simultaneously and flatten the curve of infection.
