(Atlantic) The Cass County Board of Supervisors voted 4 to 1 to hire a new County Engineer this morning.
The board hired Trent Wolken of Earlham. Wolken is currently the Assistant Engineer in Polk County.
Supervisor Steve Green’s reason for voting no on hiring Wolken was strictly due to the fact that Wolken would still be residing in Earlham and commuting to Cass County.
The Cass County Board of Supervisors began advertising for a new Engineer in August, 2019 when Engineer Charles Bechtold announced he would be terminating his employment contract.
Supervisor John Hartkopf said he doesn’t disagree with what Steve Green was saying, but he with the situation they are in they are in trouble.
Trent Wolken will begin his duties as County Engineer on March 23rd. His starting salary is $110,000.
