(Red Oak) The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors hired a new County Engineer late last week.
Montgomery County Auditor Stephanie Burke says Karen L. Albert will take over the position on April 13. Charles Bechtold is currently serving on an interim basis and will continue his duties until April 13 and possibly longer as Karen Albert transitions into her new position.
“Karen has been an engineer for many years,” said Montgomery County Board of Supervisor Vice-Chairman Mark Peterson. “While she hasn’t been in charge of a county road department, she does have a great deal of expertise in many areas.”
Ms. Albert has worked for a Civil Engineering Company in Union, Missouri, for the past 12-years managing geotechnical and environmental aspects for various projects in the public and private sector from conception to completion. She is a graduate of the Missouri University of Technology with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering. Ms. Albert holds professional engineering licensure in Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa.
“In the state of Iowa, there needs to be a permanent engineer in place during certain engineering cycles,” explained Peterson. “Whether it is a shared engineer between counties or a permanent position, and we’re looking forward to having Karen on staff.”
Karen Albert currently resides in Washington, Missouri.
