(Villisca) A fire destroyed a residence and attached trailer home in Villisca.
The Villisca Fire Department received the call at around 10:46 p.m. on Friday night for a structure fire at 1372 Highway 71. When Firefighters arrived a heavy fire engulfed the single-story residence with an attached trailer home. The occupants escaped the burning home without injury. The two structures are a total loss.
The Clarinda and Stanton Fire Departments provided mutual aid to shuttle water. Authorities shut down Highway 71 to utilize the highway for fire ground suppression operations. Firefighters remained at the scene for a little over four hours.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the fire.
