(Iowa City) The Iowa Hawkeyes got 38 points and 8 rebounds from Luka Garza, but couldn’t overcome a double-digit first half deficit at Indiana on Thursday. The Hawks gave up 49 points in the opening half and eventually fell 89-77.
Garza, a national player of the year candidate, made 14/22 shots, 3/6 3-pointers, and 7/8 free-throws. Joe Wieskamp added 16 points, but the remaining three starters combined for just one field goal. Iowa is 17-8 overall and 8-6 in the conference. Iowa is 1-4 away from home in Big Ten action and has dropped three straight league games on the road.
Devonte Green came off the bench to score 27 for 16-8 Indiana.
