(Clearfield) Five people were hurt in a single-vehicle crash near Clearfield in Taylor County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at around 9:06 p.m. on Saturday on county road J23/ 170th Street one-quarter of a mile west of Yellowstone Avenue.
Authorities say 44-year old Clayton Wayne Nelson, of Lenox, was driving a westbound 2007 Ford F250 which sustained a mechanical failure causing Nelson to lose control. The pickup went into the north ditch, rolled and came to rest on its top. Two of the occupants were ejected and one person was pinned beneath the truck.
The Iowa State Patrol identified the injured persons as; the driver Clayton Wayne Nelson, 33-year old Angela Mae Jenkins, of Lenox, 21-year old Zachary Edward Marxen, of Corning, 19-year old Cedric James Nelson, of Lenox, and 21-year old Brylee Van Gelder of Lenox.
Jenkins and Marxen were air-lifted from the scene. The three others were transported to local hospitals by ambulance.
