(Des Moines) A winter storm is expected to sweep across southwest Iowa this afternoon and continue into late Saturday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Montgomery, Page and Fremont counties in southwest Iowa. Cass, Adair, Madison, Adams, Union, Pottawattamie, Mills, Guthrie and Taylor counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory from noon today to 6:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Forecasters are predicting moderate snow with accumulations of 3-to-6 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze in the southwest and central portions of Iowa, with wind gusts of 35 miles per hour later today. The snow will occur this afternoon, this evening and again on Saturday.
