(Guthrie Center) The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors adopted an updated Grounds Policy at their meeting Tuesday.
Guthrie County Auditor Marci McClellan said the only major change is there is prohibition that nothing can be offered or sold or any type of commercial activity on Courthouse Grounds. Brandon Thompson, Facilities Manager, also amended the No Smoking Policy so that it doesn’t apply to an individual smoking in their personal vehicle. The Facility Manager or designee has the authority to inform anybody that is in violation of the policy that they must leave the premises.
In other news, the Supervisors signed the annual Memorandum of Understanding with Union County Environmental Health. McClellan said they have been in arrangement with Union County since 1991 with this Memorandum of Understanding that if Union County’s Environmental Health person is not available, Guthrie County will cover for them and they will pay at the current rate, plus 10-percent, and reimburse for mileage and other expenses.
The Supervisors approved and signed a letter presented by County Attorney Brenna Bird. McClellan explained that the Judicial Branch is hiring a new Clerk of Court for Guthrie County and it will be a part-time split between Guthrie County and Madison County. Because of that, they need to shift the court service day from Monday and they wanted to move it to Tuesday. However, Brenna Bird has been working with the Chief Judge to move it to another day. Bird had drafted a letter for the Supervisors to approve and sign explaining that the county would appreciate it if they don’t move it to Tuesday because that is the Board meeting days and it would make it difficult for Brenna Bird to fulfill both duties. Bird is hoping they can move the court days to Thursdays.
