(Oakland) The Riverside boys basketball team will play three of their next four games at home before ending the regular season with a stretch of 7 of their last 10 games on the road. A young Bulldog team has endured a pair of injuries to their two seniors and sits at 1-6 on the year.
Out of the lineup have been Mason Bivens and Taten Williams. That leaves Brogan Allensworth and Drake Woods as the two most experienced players on the roster. The junior duo has stepped up as have a couple of underclassmen. Allenworth and Woods each average better than eight points per game. Allensworth leads the team in rebounding while the two are tied for the team lead in assists and steals. Freshman Aiden Bell has been a welcome addition to the lineup with his seven points per game average and team high eight three-pointers made.
The team’s last two outings have been their tightest games thus far. They beat Missouri Valley on December 13th by a final of 45-40 and lost to Audubon on December 17th 54-43. Against the Big Reds, Bell posted a career high 17 points while Woods added 12.
Up next for the Bulldogs is a home date with Tri-Center on Tuesday, January 7th. They’ll play a non-conference game with Griswold on Thursday, January 9th.
