(Winterset) Four teenagers were injured in single-vehicle crash near Winterset.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Monday afternoon at around 1:36 p.m. at Pammel Park Road and 225th Street near Winterset. Two 14-year old females and two 16-year old males were injured in the crash.
State Police say a 2003 Chevy Pickup driven by a 16-year old James Brooks, of Winterset, was westbound on 225th Street and ran the stop sign at Pammel Park Road. Brooks lost control. The pickup entered the south ditch of 225th Street, and exited the ditch and flipped on the roadway ejecting two of the passengers.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, three of the teens are identified as; 14-year old Tatum Scheueraman, 14-year old Destiny Cunningham, and 16-year old Joe Campbell, all of Winterset were transported to Des Moines Hospitals with serious injuries. Brooks was treated and released at the scene.
The accident is under investigation. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Winterset Police, Winterset Fire Department and the Madison County ambulance assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
