ACGC 50, Glidden-Ralston 44
EmmaKay McClain scored 13 points and had a key basket to tie the game right before half. The Chargers didn’t trail often, but rarely had a comfortable lead until the final couple of minutes. McClain’s team high 13 points were accompanied by 5 steals. Kennedy Young made a solid impact with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals. Alaina Bunde scored 9. Glidden-Ralston’s high scorer was Gretchen Wallace with 19.
AHSTW 48, Logan-Magnolia 45
The conference title hopes receive a big boost for the Lady Vikes who trail (6-0) Audubon by a game in the league standings after handing Logan-Magnolia their first Western Iowa Conference defeat of the year. Kinsey Scheffler scored 13 points and Kailey Jones had 11. Coach Steve Sauvain’s team used a 17-9 4th quarter for a comeback win. Logan-Magnolia’s Kylie Morrison scored 11 points and went over 1,000 in her career. Violet Lapke had 13 for the Panthers.
Audubon 45, Underwood 42
The Wheelers keep churning out big wins. This one came despite a three point halftime deficit. They tied the game going into the 4th and outscored Underwood 16-13 in the final frame. Aleah Hermansen starred with 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Jaci Christensen had 6 points and 12 rebounds. The Wheelers are 6-1 after their fifth straight win. A big one awaits after Christmas with Logan-Magnolia headed to Audubon on January 3rd.
Denison-Schleswig 49, Atlantic 43
The Monarchs snap Atlantic’s 4-game win streak. Hannah Neemann and Paige Andersen each scored 20 points. Atlantic got 21 out of Haley Rasmussen. The Monarchs weathered a low scoring 3rd quarter with a 9-5 advantage to lead 34-26 going into the 4th.
Nodaway Valley 72, Martensdale-St. Marys 67 (OT)
Alyssa Davis went for a career high 32 in a big time win for the Wolverines. The signature outing for Davis included four three’s in the 2nd half. Maddax DeVault added 19 points as Nodaway Valley improves to 7-0 on the season. A big game immediately after the break looms with Mount Ayr. Davis becomes the first Nodaway Valley player to register at least 30 points in a game since Josie Clarke and Paige McElfish each did so in January 2017.
