(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Tom Cappel as the Atlantic Fire Department’s new Fire Chief.
Cappel takes over for Mark McNees, who recently announced that he would not seek re-election as the Department Chief after 13-years at the helm. The department elected Cappel to the position earlier this month. Cappel joined the Fire Department in 1998 and served as the First Assistant Chief prior to his appointment as the new Chief.
“Mark has done a phenomenal job with the department and I have big shoes to fill, and I will do my best to do that,” said Cappel.
Tom Cappel takes over his duties as the Atlantic Fire Chief on January 1, 2020.
