(Griswold) The Griswold School Board will hold a Special Work Session in January to discuss open enrollment.
Griswold Superintendent David Henrichs said the board had asked him to try to determine some of the reasons people are choosing to leave the district, so he met with students and staff.
“I met with 52 High School students which consisted of the National Honor Society, the Student Council, and all fall sports participants; I also met with the entire teaching staff; and I met with our School Improvement Advisory Committee between the November and December Board meetings and basically asked them two questions. The first question was what would you consider reasons that the Griswold School District would be a school choice today and then what are some reason that maybe we would not be the school choice today,” explained Henrichs. “I compiled those and shared those with the Board. There is a lot there to really dive into and so the Board has elected to try to look through that more closely at a special work session.”
The Special Work Session was set for January 9th at 5:30 p.m.
The Griswold School Board will also hold a joint meeting with Lenox School Board on February 5th at 6:00 p.m. at Lenox to discuss the Evaluation of the Superintendent, Consideration of the Continuation of the Sharing Agreement with the two Schools, and the individual contract with the Superintendent. Henrichs said the contract for sharing of Superintendent expires in June between Griswold and Lenox and the individual contract for Superintendent expires at the same time.
In other news, the Board approved the resignations of Andy Everett as head high school football coach, Jeff Schoning as Assistant Football Coach, and Nancy Taylor as Board Secretary. Taylor’s resignation is effective at the end of June. The Board hired Marlia Mundorf as a High School Special Education Teacher for the second semester.
During the organizational meeting of the new board, Aaron Houser was reelected as Board President and Don Smith was elected Vice President. The Griswold School Board will continue to hold their meetings the third Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m.
