(Glenwood) Atlantic Assistant Wrestling Coach Tucker Weber has been hired as Glenwood’s new Head Wrestling Coach pending both school boards’ approval. Weber takes over for Brad Asche who recently resigned to pursue another career path.
Weber was a four-time state medal winner at Clear Lake High School where his father was the Head Coach. Weber finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th for the Lions before graduating in 2009. From there he went on to wrestle for Wartburg and finished out his academic career at UNI.
Weber spent two years as Dike-new Hartford’s Middle School Wrestling Coach, was an assistant wrestling coach at NIACC for a year, before joining the Atlantic/CAM’s Coaching staff in 2016.
“Coach Weber has a great vision on how he wants to lead his own program,” stated Glenwood Athletic Director Jeff Bissen. “Coach Weber worked under Coach Tim Duff, who we think is one of the best in the business in terms of working with kids and leading a wrestling program.
“Tucker brings a wealth of knowledge from his experience,” said Bissen. “He knows the importance of successful youth programs and how it feeds into the high school and middle school programs. He talked about promoting the multi-sport athlete. Multi-sport athletes are a huge plus for us, and having a coach with that vision certainly helps.
“Coach Weber wants a positive culture in the wrestling room and within his program, by building relationships, making it a program that’s fun to be a part of, lead by example and teach his student-athletes to be quality people when they leave high school.
“It was great to get to know him throughout this process and I’m looking forward to seeing what he does with the Glenwood wrestling program moving forward,” stated Bissen.
Coach Weber will be teaching Middle School P.E.
