(Atlantic) A disciplinary contested case hearing is scheduled for October 10th before the Iowa Board of Chiropractic for Melissa Sternberg, D.C. with Dr. Zook’s Family Chiropractic of Carson and Atlantic.
The Iowa Board of Chiropractic says Sternberg is charged with representing herself as a chiropractic physician when her license was suspended or on inactive status; Sternberg is charged with practicing with an inactive license; Sternberg is charged with failing to comply with a subpoena issued by the Board, or otherwise failing to cooperate with a Board investigation.
Sternberg’s license was suspended indefinitely February 16, 2015 due to the Board’s receipt of a certificate of noncompliance from the Iowa Department of Revenue Centralized Collection Unit. On August 28, 2017, the Board requested that Sternberg provide a narrative responding to the allegation she was providing chiropractic services on a suspended license. Sternberg did not respond to this request until an investigator questioned her on January 18, 2018. On May 9, 2018, the Board issued a subpoena requesting documentation from Sternberg. Sternberg was personally served with the subpoena on May 11th, but has not complied or otherwise responded to the subpoena. The investigation revealed that Sternberg had provided chiropractic services after her license was suspended on February 16, 2015.
