(Harlan) A Pottawattamie County man faces numerous charges following a pursuit that ended in a ditch on Highway 83 just west of Highway 173 northwest of Atlantic.
The Harlan Police Department says 39-year old Myron Lee Brandon, of Council Bluffs, faces charges of Eluding, Possession of Methamphetamine, Prohibited Acts Violation and no fewer than eight traffic violations.
At around 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening the Harlan Police Department and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were made aware of a vehicle in Shelby County that may be involved in pursuits with at least two other law enforcement agencies. At around 5:23 p.m. a Harlan Police Officer spotted a vehicle matching that description travelling eastbound on Highway 44 leaving Harlan. The Officer tried to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation, but it took off and a pursuit ensued reaching speeds of 120 miles per hour.
The vehicle violated numerous traffic violations and at one point entered a field in an attempt to elude law enforcement. Eventually, the vehicle was stopped in a ditch along Highway 83, approximately ½ mile west of Highway 173. Myron Brandon was transported to the Cass County Memorial Hospital and later flown by medical helicopter to Nebraska Medical Center in an unknown condition.
Brandon remains at the Nebraska Medical Center. Warrants will be issued and served upon his release.
This case remains under investigation and more charges are pending.
