(Exira) The Exira Lions Club is selling hoagie subs for farmers and other interested individuals.
Allan Zobel said, “Because of the pandemic I was hopeful that this would be something we could do as Lions to get some dollars back in to meet our obligations and commitments that we’ve done every year with Kid Sight, Iowa Lions Foundation, Tori’s Angels and the many other entities that we had helped throughout the year as well as our own benefits and our own community.”
The hoagies are put in packages of three, they are double wrapped so they stay fresh, they are frozen and then you can get them out in the morning and by lunch time they will be thawed and ready to eat.
“It’s a handy way to grab a bite to eat, go out the door and get out in the field and work the whole 12 hours as most farmers do,” said Zobel. “The hoagie itself is made up of salami, turkey and ham; it’s on a homemade hoagie bun that we’ll order from the Hy Vee bakery, and then two cheeses; a white cheese and a yellow cheese.”
The hoagie subs are three for $10. The sale will go through August 22nd.
“We’ll make them up the following week and call them as we get them done and they can pick them up curbside,” said Zobel.
To pre-order, call Chrystal Zobel at 712-304-5197. Order forms are also available at the Exira Lions Building. The forms can be filled out, along with payment, and safely left in the drop box outside of the Exira Lions’ building.
