(Walnut) The Walnut City Council last week agreed to raise water deposits and water reconnection fees.
Walnut City Clerk Shannon Wood says the current water deposit fee is $50.00, and the minimum bill is $56.00. “The Council thought it would be sa good time to bump up our deposit a little bit,” said Wood.
The reconnection fee is currently $10.00.
“The City personnel spoke checked with surrounding towns, and their reconnect fee is higher, which helped them minimize shut-offs,” said Wood. “I think the City Council will go ahead with this, and they’ve asked me to draw up an ordinance, and we’ll read it at the public hearing next month.”
The water deposit fee would increase to $100.00, and the water reconnection fee would go up to $30.00.
