(Audubon) Ownership of the Landus building is being shifted from the Fire Association to the City.
City Clerk Joe Foran explains why this is taking place. “We have to set up a letter from the city saying that we intend to take ownership of the Landus building that is currently owned by the Fire Association because we qualify for some grant money to help with the demolition of the property. It was eventually going to be ours anyway, but we are doing this ahead of schedule so we can qualify for the grant money.”
Fundraising is ongoing for a new 80X200 square foot fire station to occupy the spot of the former Landus building. The two-level, seven-bay facility has a cost estimate of $2 million which includes asbestos removal and demolition of the Landus building.
