(Audubon) February 7th is the date of a town hall meeting in Audubon. The Audubon School District will be discussing plans for a March Bond Issue vote.
The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. at the high school board room. Full details of the project can be found here. It’s a 7.5 million proposal to fund the model, repair, and improvement of the middle school and high school building including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing improvements. Superintendent Eric Trager says, “We’re trying to get in front of as many groups as we possibly can to get the information out about what we would like to do, why we would like to do it, and what the tax impact will be for folks if we are successful with that bond election.”
Additional elements of the project include space improvements and modernization for the auditorium, classrooms, media center, band and music rooms, science and FCS rooms, kitchen and teachers’ lounge, hallways and corridors, restrooms, locker rooms, cafeteria, industrial tech, weight room, office suites, north gym, and hallway.
The board has already approved tentative agreements with construction management and architect services. They did that at their meeting on Monday. “We just wanted to get those in place so that after the election in March if we are successful then we can hit the ground running and get the design process started. Those contracts both have clauses in them that if the bond election does not go through then everyone is held harmless and we just part company and figure out what plan B is.”
Audubon School District patrons will vote on March 3rd.
