(Des Moines) A Pleasant Hill Police officer has been cleared in a deadly shooting. Yesterday, Polk County Attorney Kimberly Graham said Officer Steven Burroughs was justified when he shot and killed 25-year-old Bradley Van Heeswyk on August 12th. Police that day responded to reports of a man firing an automated rifle into a house. Officers Burroughs ordered Van Heeswyck to drop the weapon and fired a single shot. Graham says the officer’s action was necessary to save the lives of officers and others in the neighborhood.
