(Adair) The City of Adair will be holding informational sessions for the public in August regarding the new Community Center.
The City has been planning the replace the Community Center since the time the former Community Center was sold so that the new Dollar General store could be constructed. Over the past several months, the City has completed moving a house from the corner of 4th Street and Stuart Street and they have prepared the location to be the future home of the Adair Community Center.
Adair Mayor John Larsen…
The next 30 days are very important as the City is seeking $250,000 from the Iowa Community Attraction and Tourism grant program and they need to raise a significant amount of funds from the community at large in order to show strong local support for the project. If the grant request is approved and private fundraising is successful, the City should be positioned to begin construction on the project in the fall. All gifts should be made to: City of Adair, 320 Audubon Street, Adair, IA 50002. Donations are tax deductible.
Larsen said the City wants this facility to be an affordable resource for the community that will be used frequently for a variety of activities.
Information sessions will be held Wednesday, August 11; Wednesday, August 18; and Monday, August 23. All informational meetings will start at 5:00 p.m. at the Adair City Hall.
