(Audubon) Audubon will have a special school election on September 14th for a revenue purpose statement.
Superintendent Eric Trager says the current revenue purpose statement expires in 2031, but with an upcoming renovation project they need one that goes beyond that. “The revenue purpose statement is basically the statement which tells how we plan to use our one cent sale tax dollars. If we plan to borrow against those dollars, which given our building renovation project will be necessary, we need to have a revenue purpose statement that extends beyond our borrowing date.”
Trager re-iterates this would be an extension of what they already have in place and won’t cost the taxpayers any additional dollars. “We’re not changing anything on that revenue purpose statement. It is of zero impact to taxpayers. It simply is a statement that says how we are allowed to spend our sales tax dollars. Our revenue purpose statement like most in the state is as broad as possible and encompasses all the allowable uses under the law.”
In other school board news, Ann Miller has been appointed to fill the remaining two years of Joni Madsen’s term. “Joni Madsen resigned her board position to take a teaching position in Audubon. We’ll miss her as a board member, but are sure glad to have her back on board as a teacher so that’s good news. The board appointed Ann Miller to take her position and serve the rest of her term. We are excited to have Ann on board.”
