Janet Sickles, 86, of Laurel, MT (formerly of Greenfield, Iowa) passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenfield Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Keith Schweitzer of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield will officiate the service. A luncheon will be served at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield following the graveside service for family and friends. The Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the Janet Sickles Memorial Fund to be established by the family.
She is survived by her children, Carlene (Ron) Maeder, Reginald, Brian and Joel Sickles; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Charlene Baudler; brother, Clifton (Sharon) Ruth; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

JANET WAS BORN NOV.15TH 1933 TO CLIFFORD AND LORRAINE 9MANGELS) RUTH NORTH OF GREENFIELD.SHE WAS ACTIVE IN 4-H, CHEERLEADING AND MUSIC AT FONTANELLE HIGH SCHOOL. SHE GRADUATED FROM THERE WITH THE CLASS OF 1951.JANET WAS REBORN THROUGH THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY BASPTISM ON DEC. 10,1933 AT IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GREENFIELD AND REAFFIRMED HER BAPTISMAL VOWS THROUGH THE RITE OF CONFIRMATION ON MAY25TH 1947. JANET’S CONFIRMATION VERSE WAS ROMANS 1;16; “I AM NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST: FOR IT IS THE POWER OF GODUNTO SALVATION TO EVERYONE THAT BEIEVETH…” THIS SHE LIVED BY UNTIL THE DAY SHE DIED. SHE WAS SO HAPPY TO SHARE GOD’S LOVE WITH EVERYONE.
JANET WAS UNTIED INTO MARRAIGE WITH GERALD SICKLES ON FEB.25TH 1953 AT IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH. TOGETHER THEY WERE BLESSED WITH FOUR CHILDREN. JANET WORKED OUTSIDE THE FAMILY HOME FOR STROM’S GROCERY AND LOCKER IN FONTANELLE, G&H FREIGHT AND HER FAVORITE JOB WAS WORKING IN THE HOT SCHOOL ROOM AT GREENFIELD SCHOOLS. SHE WAS ACTIVE IN HER CHILDREN’S SCOUTING GROUPS, GHS BOOSTER CLUB, VFW AUXILIARY IN GREENFIELD AND SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONS IN HER CHURCH IN GREENFIELD AND LATER AT ST. JOHNS LUTERAN CHURCH IN LAUREL.
FOLLOWING RETIREMENT, SHE AND GERALD MOVED TO LAUREL MONTANA, SO THEY COULD ENJOY THE MOUNTAINS WITH HER BROTHER AND SISTER IN LAW.THEY ENJOYED MANY WONDERFUL TIMES TOGETHER EXPLORING MONTANA. JANET WAS A BIG FAN AND LOVED TO WATCH THE HAWKEYES AND CYCLONES SPORTS TEAMS AND ALSO THE CHICAGO BEARS AND KANSAS CITY CHIEFS.
JANET WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER PARENTS, HUSBAND GERALD, SISTERS LINDA RUTH AND KAREN (RUTH) JUNCK, BOTHER IN LAWS JOHN JUNCK AND EARL BAUDLER, GRANDSON TIM WILSON AND OTHER EXTENDED FAMILY.
LEFT TO CHERISH HER MEMORY ARE HER CHILDREN CARLENE (RON) MAEDER, REGINALD, BRIAN AND JOEL; SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN; FIFTEEN GREAT GRAND CHILDREN; ONE GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILD; A SISTER CHARLENE BAUDLER; BROTHER CLIFTON (SHARON) RUTH AND MANY NIECES, NEPHEWS AND EXTENEDED FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
