(Griswold) Atlantic swept Creston in a Hawkeye Ten Conference baseball doubleheader at Griswold on Monday night. The Trojans won the first game 10-3 and took the nightcap 10-0 in six innings.
In the first game, Brendan Atkinson hit a three-run homer to seal the deal for the Trojans. Dayton Templeton picked up the win for Atlantic with a strong outing. Templeton gave up just two earned runs and threw 65-pitches in six innings of work. Garrett McLaren closed it out for Atlantic.
In the second game, Lane Nelson pitched 5 1/3 innings for Atlantic, and Garrett McLaren came in the sixth inning and fired one pitch, forcing one out. The Trojans responded in the bottom of the sixth with six runs to end the game early by the ten-run rule 10-0.
Wyatt Redinbaugh drilled a two-run homer, and Ethan Sturm stroked a two-RBI single, and Gunner Kirchhoff singled and drove in another run to lead the Trojans at the plate.
The Trojans extend their record to 5-2 and travel to Harlan tonight. We will have the game on 95.7 FM. The pre-game starts at 7:15 p.m.
