(Guthrie Center) ACGC will run at the state cross country meet on Saturday. The Charger boys qualified by winning their home state qualifying meet on Friday.
Trevin Suhr’s runner-up individual finish paced ACGC last week. The strongest stretch of Suhr’s race, he says, came at the finish. “Probably the kick at the end. The last 400 was probably my best part. I like finishing on the track I guess it just helps me see how much is left and how much to go for.”
Suhr played football his freshman year, but has been in cross country the last two years. “I loved football. It just kind of wasn’t my thing anymore. I didn’t really like it as much. I always ran in the past and like it. I figured I would give cross country a shot not really thinking anything of it. I caught onto it and started really liking it. I’m still learning things…not to go out to fast, not to go out to slow. You just have to keep working and learning little things.”
Suhr is aiming for a top ten individual run at this week’s state meet and wants to see the team put together a good finish. The Chargers performed well last week at home. Kaden Thompson ran 7th, Andrew Mahaffey was 9th, Justin Reinhart 11th, Lance Bunde 19th, Bo Arrasmith 23rd, and Miles Kading 29th.
