(Audubon, IA) — For the last 5 seasons, the Audubon Boys Basketball team has been below .500 and if the Wheelers want to improve off their 8-14 record they need to get healthy and need other players to step up their scoring.
Audubon only graduates one senior starter — Edward Miller (15.2 ppg, 9.9 rbg) who averaged near a double double. There is plenty of talent coming back led by Senior Aaron Olsen (10.2 ppg) and Junior Carson Wessel (6.3 ppg) and Head Coach Darran Miller expects big things from them
To start the season Seniors Colton Hansen, Mason Steckler and Oliver Deist are expected to round out the starting line-up. Junior Austin Christensen (9.3 ppg, 7.9 rbg) is still not 100 percent healthy from his football injury — Miller hopes he will be back in January. Christensen and Miller were team’s best rebounders last year so Coach Miller will need all hands on deck to help on the glass
On defense, Miller likes to mix things up
Freshmen Aiden Kjergaard and Jorgen Jorgen Nowatzke will move up to varsity and help with depth. Miller expects the competition to be tough in the Western Iowa Conference
Audubon will open their season on Monday hosting Coon Rapids Bayard
