(Tabor, IA) — Fremont Mills is young, talented and they will be the district champs in 8 Man District #10. The Knights defeated CAM on Friday night 40-28.
Neither team scored on their first two drives but the Cougars would make the first mistake with a fumble that Paxton Campbell picked up and returned 25 yards for the first score. CAM answered back with a good kickoff return and Makade Paulsen capped the drive with a 14 yard TD to tie it at 6-6. Fremont Mills went back on top quickly when Campbell caught a screen pass in traffic and then motored away from everybody for a 65 yard TD at the 10:22 mark of the 2nd quarter to make it 12-6 Knights.
After a CAM punt, it was Jonathan Expai’s turn to rumble 27 yards for a TD. CAM would answer back — Paulsen hit Collin Bower on a 28 yard pass and then Paulsen took it 10 yards for a TD. But it was Expai again running through the Cougar defense 43 yards for a TD just before the end of the half — Fremont Mills led 26-14.
On their first drive of the 2nd half, Paulsen would find Bower for a 35 yard TD to cut the lead to 26-20 but that’s as close as the Cougars would get. Fremont Mills would fumble on their next possession but CAM went 3 and out. Expai would score again from 9 yards out to make it 32-20 at the end of the third quarter. After back to back turnovers, Expai got his 4th TD of the night on a 1 yard run to make it 40-20. Paulsen found Bower again for a 51 yard TD to cut the lead to 12 but there was no miracle in the end for CAM.
