(Harlan, IA) — Harlan volleyball will try to fight back into contention in the Hawkeye Ten this season and Head Coach Ellie Drees will use a balanced offense to do it.
Last year, five different players had over 100 kills on the season and led the Cyclones to a 9-24 mark and only 3-6 in the conference. Three of the those players have graduated — Samantha Ineson (136 kills, 249 digs, team leading 33 aces), Erica Rust (136 kills, team leading 51 blocks) and Ava Monson (110 kills, 23 aces). Drees will have the other two players back to lead the team this year
Schwieso and Setter Macy Mueller (538 assists, 26 aces) are the only seniors for Harlan in 2024. Drees really likes her defense, she says the Libero position was hard to fill because of so many numbers
The Cyclones have had just one winning record in the last six seasons so Drees hopes this team will have the mental and physical strength to turn things around
Harlan opens their volleyball season on Thursday, August 29 with a quad at ADM with Des Moines Christian and Woodward Granger.
