(Atlantic, IA) — In high school sports, experience usually equals success. The Atlantic Volleyball team hopes that equation will apply to their team this season.
Coming off of a 8-25 season, the Trojans have players hungry to turn that record around. First year Head Coach Alyssa Boltz says there are plenty of players coming back especially on the back line
Junior Claire Schroeder (147 assists, 112 digs, 26 aces) is the leading returner in assists with Maddie Richter transferring to CAM. Senior Morgan Botos (57 kills, 168 digs, 31 blocks, 16 aces) was third on the team in blocking a year ago. Senior Paytn Harter (175 kills, 83 digs, 42 blocks) led Atlantic in kills. Junior Jayci Reed (16 kills), Senior Jersey Phippen (106 digs, 6 aces), and Sophomore Jillian Saathoff (42 kills, 88 digs, 17 aces) were contributors last year counted on to do more in 2024. Boltz says the talent does not stop there
Atlantic will host a volleyball scrimmage next Saturday, they open the regular season on Thursday, August 29 hosting Winterset.
