(Hagen, Germany) – Former Iowa State basketball player Nick Weiler-Babb has been selected for Team Germany at the Paris Olympics, scheduled for July 27-Aug. 10.
Weiler-Babb is one of 12 athletes representing Germany, marking him as the fourth former Iowa State player to qualify. Tyrese Haliburton will compete for the USA, George Conditt IV for Puerto Rico, and Melvin Ejim for Canada. Weiler-Babb, Haliburton, and Conditt IV were teammates at Iowa State in 2018-19, while Ejim played there from 2010-14.
In Group B, Germany will face Japan on July 27, Brazil on July 30, and France on Aug. 2 during the group phase, held in Lille, France, before moving to Paris for knockout rounds. Weiler-Babb has played professionally in Germany since 2019, with Riesen Ludwigsburg and Bayern Munich, winning the 2023 BBL-Pokal and earning MVP honors. Recently, he signed a two-year extension with Bayern Munich and previously represented Germany at EuroBasket 2022, helping secure a third-place finish.
