Nancy Marie Jones, age 75, of Audubon, IA, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Bergen Mercy in Omaha, NE. She was surrounded by her loved ones, which she lovingly called her tribe. Nancy Marie Zenor was born to Esther and Jake Zenor. She was the 11th of 12 children in the family. Nancy was united in marriage to Carroll Jones on May 11, 1974. She was a devoted mom to her two sons, Bob and Jason. Nancy had various jobs throughout her life. She learned the ethics of hard work while growing up in a large family. She was a barmaid in the 70’s, which is where she honed her quit whit. She owned a flower shop at one point and also managed a convenience store. Many of her jobs found her in the kitchen, where she was gifted as a baker and cook. She managed the cafeteria at Simpson College and the bakery at Audubon Food Pride and most recently worked in the kitchen at Darrell’s Place.
Nancy was known for her spunky personality. She definitely had strong opinions and was not afraid to share them. She would either make people laugh or roll their eyes. She was authentically herself and was firm in her convictions.
Nancy was a homebody but would attend any event she could to support her boys and grandchildren. She was immensely proud of them and was their biggest fan. Nothing brought her more joy than her family.
Nancy was the kind of grandma that every child wanted to have. Although she was known to spoil and bend the rules, she loved them fiercely.
Nancy was a dog lover (most recently to Bella) and was known to spoil her dogs. There was no such thing as too many treats.
Nancy was a giver. She wanted her loved ones to have what they wanted and would work hard to find and give the most perfect gifts. Sometimes, the gift would be a laminated four-leaf clover. She had an uncanny ability to spot them from far away. Many Marines were honored to receive this treasure from Nancy.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, ten of her siblings, her husband Carroll Jones, and special friend Joseph Coles.
Nancy is survived by Her sons, Bob Jones (Monica) of Audubon, IA, and Jason Jones (Anne) of Fredericksburg, VA. Her two grandchildren: Maria Jones(Jacob) of Coon Rapids, IA and Riley Jones (Jordyn) of Council Bluffs, IA; Her stepdaughters and their children: Cris Uhlenhopp (Jason) of Allison, IA and Shelly Oelke (Chad) of Omaha, NE: Her sister: Vicki Merrill of Indianola
